N/A Duomo
The Cathedral of Siena is a mixture of Gothic and Romanesque architecture, with dark green and white marble in its façade. Its construction began in the 12th Century. One of the main attractions of the cathedral is its marble-inlaid floor. Inside, there’s a famous Gothic octagonal pulpit by Nicola Pisano, along with some perfectly preserved Renaissance frescoes by Ghirlandaio. There’s also a museum which contains some original statues by Pisano, Duccio and Senese. In the same piazza as the Duomo is the hospital of Santa Maria della Scala, which now houses a museum complex which contains frescoes, artwork, temporary exhibits and treasures collected over the course of its thousand-year history.
N/A Piazza del Campo
This is one of the most unique squares in the world, shaped like a shell. You can't miss it! Aside from the Palazzo Pubblico and Palazzi Signorili, there’s also the famous Torre del Mangia with its splendid view over the city. This Piazza was a marketplace established before the 13th Century. The town hall, Palazzo Pubblico, also houses an important museum with Ambrogio Lorenzetti's series of frescoes on the results of good and bad government. Piazza is also famous for its palio horse races. Competitors have to circle the square three times as quickly as possible. These unique games are held twice a year and attract not only locals, but many tourists as well.

Situated at the very heart of the city, Siena Town Hall lies in the centre of the shell-shaped Piazza del Campo next to the Torre del Mangia. Its construction began in 1297 as a main residence of the republican government, consisting of the Podesta and Council of Nine. It is one of the greatest examples of Italian medieval architecture with Gothic influences. Its slightly curved facade reflects the outwards convex of the Siena's central square. Inside the Town hall there is an important art museum with Ambrogio Lorenzetti's magnificent frescos and great paintings by Simone Martini and Pietro Lorenzetti.
N/A Palazzo Salimbeni
On this splendid piazza, you can visit the Palazzo Salimbeni. This notable building was also the Medieval headquarters of one of the oldest and most important banks, Monte dei Paschi di Siena, which exists to this day. You shouldn't miss the notable Gothic Palazzo Chigi on Via di Città. It’s the residence of Siena's conservatory of music, the Accademia Musicale Chigiana.
