Chateau de Blois
The splendid Château de Blois has been a long-time residence for several French kings, since Louis XII. It’s also the place where Joan of Arc was blessed by the Archbishop of Reims before departing with her army to drive the English from Orléans. Built in the middle of town, the castle comprises several buildings constructed from the 13th to the 17th Century around the main courtyard. It’s mainly known for its magnificent spiral staircase in the wing of François I.
Foret de Russy
This lush forest is situated on the south side of Blois, near the Chateau de Beauregard. It was the kings' favourite place for hunting, and later transformed into an elegant mansion. Inside the castle, there’s also an art gallery with a great collection of 327 kings' portraits. Surrounding the residence is a beautiful park with rare plants. The forest is also an ideal place for cycling.
Chateau de Fougeres
This tremendous castle was constructed in the 11th Century and was a residence for Brittany's dukes. A defensive fortress, it was reconstructed in the 15th Century. With its great collection of arms, it’s a great attraction for anyone keen on military history.
Maison de la Magie
Maison de la Magie is a truly magical place full of illusions, dreams and hallucinations. Its founder was the popular modern illusionist, Jean Eugène Robert-Houdini, born in Blois in 1805. The House of Magic reflects the history of magic and shows Houdini's most popular tricks. You can also try his unique hallucinoscope, or check out one of his magic mirrors. At the end of the visit, you’ll see an amazing spectacle of Houdini's famous successors at the Théâtre des Magiciens. You can't miss it!
